Clinical Activities

In-patient and out-patient consultation practice for patients with suspect or definite genetic disease, of all types. We have especial expertise in the diseases affecting adults, including but not limited to complex diseases (e.g., coronary artery disease, sleep apnea), metabolic disease (porphyrias), connective tissue disease (Marfan, Ehler-Danlos syndromes). The genetic clinic meets weekly.

Research Interests

Dr. Tishler is involved in ongoing studies on the genetics, genomics and natural history of diseases of aging, and of physiologic phenomena that change with age. These include extensive studies of genetic and environmental aspects of sleep apnea, the deleterious effects on lung function of cigarette smoke, prostate cancer, and common cardiac valvular abnormalities. He also is involved in developing the role of genetics in public health, in terms of both improving the health of and educating populations.
