Frequently Asked Questions
- 1. I just started as a Research Fellow, where can I find information to ease my transition into the BWH research community?
- Download the BWH Resource Guide (local copy), or contact David Lewis at dlewis4@partners.org or 617.525.6631.
- 2. How are the departments at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School organized?
- HMS is divided into "Basic and Social Science" departments, "Clinical" departments, and "Centers, Divisions, and Institutes". The clinical departments are made up of faculty from affiliate hospitals like BWH. In addition, the faculty in an HMS "Clincal" department can belong to several "Basic and Social Science" departments.
For example HMS has a "Basic and Social Science" Department of Genetics that is based on the quad, but can contains faculty who are members of the HMS "clinical" Department of Medicine at BWH. Furthermore the Department of Medicine at BWH is subdivided into divisions, one of which is the Division of Genetics.
